The Nurmahal police have booked three migrants on the charges of cheating and criminal crimination.
The investigating officer (IO) Inspector Raman Deep Kumar said that the accused have been identified as Sita Devi wife of Ram Pukar Paswan a resident of East Champaran district, Bihar, Madhu Kumari son of Damodaran, and Surindra Ram resident of the same locality.
Parshotam Lal a resident of Sagar Pur village complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that the accused introduced himself as his relative settled in Portugal and duped him of Rs 7.50 Lakhs.
IO said that a case under sections 403(dishonestly misappropriating or converting to his own use any movable property) 419(cheating by personation),420(cheating), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and section 66(c) of the IT Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and further investigations are on.
