The Nurmahal police have booked the husband of a woman on the charge of abetting suicide.
The investigating officer (IO)Jugraj Singh said the accused has been identified as Lakhvir Singh son of Gurcharan Dass a resident of Sagar Pur village.
Jaswindar Kaur wife of Buta Singh a resident of Malu Wal village under Mehat Pur police station complained to the police that her sister Rajwindar Kaur’s marriage was solemnized with Lakhvir Singh fifteen years ago who used to harass her sister and threatened to kill her.
She said that she along with her other sister came to Sagar Pur village on February 24 at the request of Rajwindar and found her hanging with a ceiling fan in her house.
The complainant said her sister committed suicide due to harassment at the hands of her husband.
IO said a case under section 306(abetting suicide) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused Lakhvir Singh.
