The Bilga police have arrested Gurjit Singh son of Jaswindar Singh a resident of Umar Pur Kalan village in a dowry harassment case.
Mamta daughter of Pritam Singh a resident of Tehing village under Phillaur police station had filed a complaint to the senior superintendent of police, Jalandhar (rural), that her husband had been harassing her and demanding more and more dowry since her marriage.
The Investigating Officer Baljit Kaur said a case under section 498-A (husband or relative of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused after an inquiry.
