The Jalandhar (rural) police on Tuesday conducted a special operation ‘Operation CASO ’ for searching and rounding up suspicious persons for their verification at vulnerable places, including railway stations and bus stands, in all the five subdivisions
The operation was conducted on the directions of the Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav.
Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police Swarandeep Singh said in a press note that ADGP RK Jaiswal personally supervised the operation in Jalandhar(rural) police district.
Apart from checking at bus stands and railway stations special nakas were set up under the supervision of Superintendents of Police (SPs) in the district for a thorough search of suspected vehicles/persons while ensuring minimum inconvenience to the public.
The operation was conducted in a synchronized manner from 11 am to 4 pm across the district.
SSP said railway stations, hotels, and 172 citizens were checked in this operation and 10 kilograms of poppy husk,365 intoxicant tablets,4 grams of heroin,200 grams of opium, and 50 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered, one proclaimed offender was arrested with a motorcycle, purse, and Rs 1,67,000 drug money was seized five cases were registered and six accused were arrested 940, and four proclaimed offenders were arrested and 30 traffic challans were issued to citizens and a motorcycle was impounded during the operation
