The Nakodar city police have busted a gang of cheaters with the arrest of its four members.
The investigating officer (IO) Bhajan Singh said that the accused have been identified as Sunil Negi son of Khushal Singh a native of Uttara Khand state, Prem Singh alias Prem son of Tarlok Singh a native of Uttara Khand and presently living in Malick Bazar, Ranjit Singh son of Mohinder Singh a resident of Loharan village under Jamsher Sadar police station and Arjindar Singh alias Jindar son of Daulat Ram a resident of Rauli Road, Mehat Pur.
IO said that the accused were running a computer kiosk at Adda Mehat Pur and printing fake government lotteries and cheating people and selling betting slips.
A case under section 420(cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 13/3/67 of the Gambling Act has been registered against the accused and recovered Rs 65,000, one laptop, three mobile handsets, and stationery items from their possession.
