The Shahkot police have booked three migrants including a woman on the charges of cheating and criminal crimination.
The Station House officer (SHO) Gurinder Jit Singh Nagra said that the accused have been identified as Usha Devi wife of Ankil Tanti a resident of Begu Sarai district of Bihar state, Rubi Banu Hathiara Purba a resident of 24 Pargana district of West Bengal state and Kedar Ravi Dass a resident of Dhanbad district of Jharkhand state.
Jagtar Singh a resident of Lassoorri village complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that he received a call on his brother’s phone on January 5 and was asked to kick on a link to deposit Rs 5 rupee but the next day on January 6 the accused withdrew online Rs 60879 from his account and cheated him.
SHO said that a case under sections 403(dishonestly misappropriating or converting to his own use any movable property,) 420(cheating), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and section 66(d) of the IT Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and further investigations are on.
