Free vaccination drive is going to be started in Faridkot against lumpy skin disease from Tuesday,February 15th.
"As per the directions of the government of Punjab, a free vaccination drive is going to be started in Faridkot by the department of animal husbandry," said Dr Ruhee Dugg,DC Faridkot in a press note today.
About 70000 cows are going to be vaccinated with the got pox vaccine which is used to prevent lumpy skin.
26 teams have been formed for the purpose and 3 veterinary officers would monitor the vaccination drive so that a hundred percent target of vaccination be achieved.
The DC said that the veterinary staff would go door to door of the farmers/dairy farmers or people who have kept dairy cows to vaccinate them.
"The people are appealed to contact the veterinary staff to get their cows vaccinated," the DC said.
The DC had held a meeting of veterinary officers in which Dr Sandeep Gupta, deputy director, department of animal husbandry provided the deputy commission details of the plan for vaccination.
Last year, the deadly virus affected thousands of cows.
