The Nakodar sadar police have arrested a Kapurthala village resident gangster on the charge of extortion by putting a person in fear of death.
The Investigation officer (IO) Sanjivan Singh said that the accused has been identified as Karnail Singh alias Bobby son of Bagga Ram a resident of Talwandi Mehma village Kaputhala
Ranno wife of Darshan Lal had complained to the police that she had received WhatsApp calls from telephone numbers 17245728900 -17244615993 in the month of September 2021 and the accused had introduced himself as a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demanded Rs 30 Lakhs from her and threatened to kill her family if no money is paid within the time.
IO said that a case under section 386(extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt.)
Of the Indian Penal Code was registered on September 3 .2021 against unidentified accused and sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act were added in the FIR.
It is important to mention here that the complainant is of dubious character and some cases against her were registered by the Nakodar police under the NDPS Act.
