Two Teachers from Nawanshahr show passion for preparing English Study Material

NAWANSHAHR: The Education Department, Punjab, with a view to enhance English language skills among the students has set up " English Booster Clubs" in government schools. Under it, variety of innovative activities like vocabulary building, converasational practice, public speaking, show and tell etc. are being organised for the past couple of years to develop language skills as well as confidence level of the students so that the students of government schools could be prepared to face the exisigencies of the present era of competition in pursuing educational and vocational avenues. 

With a view to developing English language skills in a well planned manner, the Education Department, has constituted a team of dedicated resource persons from the school teachers. The dedicated team of resource persons have been preparing requisite study material including Workbooks, Practice Sheets, Manual cum Activity Book for Teachers, English Booster Club booklet" etc.containing  daily language vocabulary and a variety of activities and exercises based on the prescribed syllabus of different classes. 

It is matter of great pride for Nawanshahr district that two English Teachers - Kavita Sabharwal ( Sate Awardee) from Government Senior Secondary School for Boys, Rahon and Dimpy Bassi from Government High school, Alachaur have consistently and passionately been contributing towards the various  activities meant for developing English language skills  be it preparing of variety of study material or delivering lectures digitally.

Chander Shekhar, State Resource Person ( English / Social Studies) , while divulging details said that while the objective of preparing workbooks, practice sheets and English Booster Club Booklet' is to enhance  the learning outcomes of the students in an interesting way, the 

Manual cum Activity Book for Teachers contains the need based material and activities for the teachers to equip them with the latest strategies to help them to implement the skills of language effectively. 

"Kavita Sabharwal and Dimpy Bassi, English teachers from Nawanshahr district have contributed immensly for preparing " My English Workbooks" and "Let us Explore English" ( a manual cum  activity book for teachers) for different classes. Kavita Sabharwal has also made her contribution as leading writer of English Booster Club Booklet and vetter towards English workbooks for classes 6th and 7th, said Chander Shekhar while lauding the dedicated efforts of both the teachers from Nawanshahr. 

Deputy District Education Officer(SE), Rajesh Kumar also lauded the contribution of Kavita and Dimpy towards preparing the study material as well as designing various innovative activities for enhancing English language skills among students.

"Though ipreparing manuals , activities and taking virtual classes on TV/ Radio is a challenging tas well as time consuming intellectual exercise but the recognition from the higher authorities of the department coupled with the response from the fellow teachers and the students have always been a motivational force for us to do justice with the trust reposed in us by the Department", say Kavita and Dimpy.
