The Nakodar City police have booked thirty-two persons on the charges of staging dharna to protest bad road condition of Mehat Pur bye pass.
Investigating Officer (IO) Davindar Singh said that the alleges accused have been identified as Sudesh Chahal,his son,Anad Jakhu,Gautam Bhatia, residents of Mohalla Ravi Dass Pura, Sabi Padam a resident of Mehat Pur Road, Raman of Sohal Khurd village and Deepak Sood a resident of near Railway crossing and their 25 unidentified colleagues.
IO said all persons staged a dharana at Mehat Pur railway crossing and used loudspeakers and harassed public.
Residents said dharana was staged to protest bad condition of Mehat Pur bye pass which have become a headache for all. They said the Nakodar-Jagraon main road has deteriorated severely over the past several months, with large stretches — from the Nurmahal bypass to the railway station — have deep potholes. Instead of carrying out proper repairs, the local authorities have filled these potholes with industrial ash that has created a new set of hazards for commuters.
IO said a case under sections 223(disobedience to order issued by competent authority) ,285(obstruction inpublic way ,194(2)(affray ),189(3)and ,190(unlawful assembly) ,326(b) (mischief by injury to public road ),61(2) (criminal conspiracy) ,of the BNS and section 4,5 of the Noise Pollution (regulation and control rules2000) has been registered in this connection .
