Amritsar- The two week long Refresher course in “Basic and Applied Sciences” organized by UGC Human Resource Development Center of Guru Nanak Dev University concluded with the valedictory address by the Dean Academic affairs (Off.), and OSD to Vice Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) Hardeep Singh.
Prof.(Dr.) Sudha Jitender, Director HRDC welcomed the Guest of Honour and apprised him about the course which was attended by faculty members from different branches of sciences from HEI situated in different states of India.
Dr Hardeep Singh congratulated the participants on successful completion of the course. In his address, he emphasized on the duty of the faculty of Higher Educational Institutes (HEI) is to create new knowledge at a fast pace and ensure it is disseminated to the society. India has highest number of scientist but is still lagging in recognition at global level by way of winning Nobel prizes. The ecosystem of education in STEM has to be improved from schools to HEI by coordination, cooperation and emphasis on basic sciences so that new technologies for betterment of society and natural world can be developed. The Director, HRDC shared words of wisdom with all participants extolling them to utilize the knowledge and experience gained in the course in honing their skill of teaching further. The valedictory session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof.(Dr.) Vasudha Sambyal ,the coordinator of the course.
