DC Faridkot congratulates district residents on Diwali, appeals them to celebrate green Diwali

Faridkot: Deputy commissioner Faridkot,DR Ruhee Dugg has congratulated the district residents on the auspicious day of Diwali and wished them well.

The DC, making a reference to the Apex court ruling, further said that the people should burst crackers only for two hours, between 8 and 10 PM on Diwali day.

The DC has further appealed to the people to shun away from bursting crackers as they highly pollute the environment such as air, and noise pollution and disturb the peace of mind of the people.

“The crackers emit highly dangerous gases which may lead to many diseases,poison the environment and the noise pollution disturbs the ill and elderly people,” the DC said.

She has appealed to the Faridkot residents to celebrate Diwali as Green Diwali by planting saplings or by doing some other construction works in the society.

“The people should get to gather and meet each other, congratruate and celebrate Diwali to strengthen our soicial bondages,” said Ruhee Dugg,DC Faridkot.

The deputy commissioner said that Nehru stadium Faridkot, Dr Hari Singh Sewak Sr Secondary school Kotkpaura and vacant place outside the Tehsil complex in Jaitu have been earmarked places where the crackers can be sold by the permitted shopkeepers.
