Ottawa: Unknown miscreants vandalised and painted anti-India slogans on the wall of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan (BAPS) temple in Toronto, Canada on Tuesday.
Condemning this, India has demanded the Canadian authorities to investigate the matter.
The Indian High Commission in Toronto said in a tweet about this, "We strongly condemn the writing of anti-India slogans on the wall of BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Toronto. We urge the Canadian authorities to investigate this matter and take strong action against the perpetrators."
However, Canadian MP Chandra Arya said in a tweet that everyone should condemn the incident of Canadian Khalistani extremists writing slogans on the Toronto temple. This is not the only incident. Recently, Hindu temples have been targeted through hate crimes for some time now. The concern of the Hindus of Canada regarding these incidents is justified.
Canadian MP Tim S Uppal said in a tweet that he was saddened by the incident. There should be such an environment that people follow their religion without any fear.
He said that he would soon go to the temple to meet his friends.
