The increasing uses of Aadhaar and the new guidelines of the Government of India were also discussed.

During the meeting, Garg informed that the government has initiated an exercise to strengthen residents’ Aadhaar by updating their latest Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address. (POA) documents, if they had enrolled for Aadhaar before 2015 and have not updated it even once.

She appealed to residents to update their Aadhaar by uploading supportive documents, such as the latest POI and POA documents at the nearest Aadhaar center.

She also informed that this facility can also be availed through online services of UIDAI and it is free up to December 14, 2023.

Garg also stressed the importance of having a mobile number registered in Aadhaar as the resident can avail of various Aadhaar services online by logging in at
https://myaadhaaruidai.govin/ or through the mAadhaar application of UIDAI. Since Aadhaar has emerged as the ‘most widely accepted proof of identity, with provisions to identify a resident through biometric authentication, residents will be able to use it securely by locking their biometrics online.
