East Coast Railways Bhubaneswar won the 80th All India Railways hockey men championship defeating Rail Coach Factory kapurthala 2-1 in the final match played at Astroturf ground at Rail Coach Factory here on Friday night.
South Central Railways Secundrabad defeated Central Railways Mumbai by 5-1 to secure the third position in the championship.
The final match played between East Coast Railways and Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala was a interesting encounter as both the teams played brilliantly and RCF forward Deepak scored a field goal in the 3rd quarter for his team against the rivals 1-0 which was equalised by the East Coast Railways Ajuna awardee Amit Rohit in the same breath through a field goal 1-1.
East Coast Railways Parkash Barla converted a penalty shoot into goal and led his team to victory 2-1.
RCF tried to equalise the score and earned many pernality corners but failed to convert into goal due to erratic shootings.
RCF General Manager Ashesh Agrawal gave away prizes to the winners.
Eight teams qualified for quarter finals in their respective league matches which were played on knock out basis here from March 28 to 31 according to RCF sports Association President G.S.Hira
