Nurmahal resident arrested for cultivating poppy crop

 

NURMAHAL

The Numahal police have arrested a local resident on the charge of cultivating the poppy crop.

The Station House officer (SHO) Ranjit Singh said that the accused has been identified as Omesh Kumar son of Vijay Rai a resident of Mohalla Surania Nurmahal

SHO said that the police have received information that the accused is cultivating the poppy crop in a plot on Nakodar Road owned by a prominent businessman and he is selling sugar cane juice in front of the plot

SHO said that the police raided the plot and recovered 82 plants of green poppy crop weighing 4 kilograms.

 

SHO said that a case under sections 8(B)15/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and Parbodh Kumar son of Shadi Lal a resident of Mohalla Sant Nagar Nurmahal who is the owner of the plot and has allowed Omesh to cultivate poppy crop in his plot.
