Two criminals booked for snatching cash, earrings

 

NURMAHAL

The Nurmahal police have booked two criminals on charges of snatching earrings and cash.

 The investigating officer (IO) Amrik Singh said that the accused have been identified as Ramesh Kumar alias Bhandi son of Balkara a resident of Cheema Khurd village and Kulwant Singh alias Bhagatu son of Shingara Singh a resident of Bhandal Himmat village.

Davindar Kumar a resident of Jandiala village complained to the police that he was returning home from Phullaur side with his wife on his motorcycle on April 4 evening when the accused waylaid him near Sagar Pur village gate on the Nurmahal- Phillaur road and snatched his wife’s earrings Rs 8000 from his pocket brandishing a sharp-edged weapon.

The complainant said that he and his wife raised an alarm following which villagers chased them and identified the accused who managed to flee. 

 IO said that a case under section 379-B (snatching) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused and raids are being conducted to nab them.

 

Incidents of snatching have created a sense of insecurity and fear among residents and put a question mark on police patrolling.
