Bilga police book Amritpal Singh,two others  for extorsion, criminal intimidation

The Bilga police have booked the “Waris Punjab De “chief Amritap Singh a resident of Jallu Pur Khera village under Khilchian police station in Amritsar district and his two unidentified associates on charges of extortion and criminal intimidation.

Gurmit Kaur wife of Sukhwinder Singh a resident of Mehsam Pur village and presently living at Shekhu Pur village complained to the police that his husband is serving as a Granthi in Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Sekhu Pur village, and living with her family in a residential house inside and his husband is also working as light and sound mechanic.

She said in her complaint that her husband was outside for his work on March 18 and both gates of the Gurdwara were open when around 6 PM three Sikh young men with covered faces came on Platina motorcycle and barged into their residence.

She said that they locked her family in the room by threatening at a point of a pistol.

Gurmit Kaur said that when they removed the cover from their faces his son Parwan Singh recognized one of them and told her that one of them is the chief of Waris Punjab De Amrit Pal Singh a resident of Jallu Pur Khera village in Amritsar.

She said they asked for water from her which was given and after drinking the water Amritpal Singh and his two unidentified associates swapped their jackets with one another.  

Gurmit Kaur said Amritpal Singh’s associate ordered his son on the point the pistol to give them his motorcycle, a Loi, pairs of spectacles, and a Parna which were given by her son.

She said that Amrtpal Singh covered his face with black Parna and packed his own Parna in a bag.

Gurmit Kaur said after this Amitpal Singh ordered his son to help them in crossing River Sutej and if he disagrees his whole family will be killed.

She said that her son has no alternative but to cooperate and asked his cousin to accompany him and Amritpal Singh changed his motorcycle (PB08-CU-8884) with her son’s motorcycle and before leaving they threatened us with dire consequences if they opened their mouths.

She said in her complaint that her son after reaching home told her that our motorcycle being driven by Amrit Pal went out of order on way and he phoned someone in the village to bring a scooter to the spot.   

Gurmit Kaur said that her son told her that Amritpal Singh ordered him to leave their motorcycle at the Dara Pur canal.

She said her son helped them to reach River Sutlej via Meon Wal village, but there were no boats and he helped them to cross River Sutlej crossing via many villages.

She said that out of fear she could not lodge a complaint earlier and urged the police to take legal action against Amrit Pal Singh        

 

The Station House Officer Mohindar Pal said a case under sections 386(extortion by putting any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt),342(wrongful restrain)506(criminal intimidation), and 34 (committing a crime with common intention  ) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms  Act has been registered against the accused  and assistant sub-inspector Manoj Kumar  is conducting further investigations
