Amritpal Singh among five booked for extorsion, criminal intimidation

The Shahkot police have booked the “Waris Punjab De “chief Amritap Singh a resident of Jallu Pur Khera village near Khilchian  in Amritsar district and his four unidentified associates on the charges of extortion, criminal intimidation, and rioting,

Ranjit Singh a resident of Nangal Ambian Khurd village complained to the police that he is serving as a Granthi in Gurdwara Singh Sabha , Nangal Ambian village for the last 15 years and living with his family in a residential house inside.

He said in his complaint that he along with his family was present in Gurdwara on March 18 around 1.15 P.M when a Brezza car (Pb-02-EE-3343)   car in white color stopped outside and Amritpal Singh chief of “Waris Punjab DE ‘and a resident of Jajju Khera village and his four associates wearing traditional religious cloths (Cholas) came inside Gurdwara armed with a pistol, a 315 bore rifle and other armaments.  

Ranjit Singh said that his son Jatindar Singh (30) was cleansing the floor of the Gurdwara. One youth told us that they need his son’s dresses as the police are chasing them, and they will change their dresses before leaving.

Granthi said that he refused to give his son’s dresses and Amritpal Singh brandished his pistol on his ear pit and said if he did not give them the dresses, he and his family will be shot dead.

He said fearing death threats he opened an almirah in his room where his son’s dresses were lying adding that they forcibly took his son’s dresses and swapped their Cholas with shirts and trousers and switched their turbans.

Ranjit Singh said in his complaint that before leaving they threatened him with the death sentence if he told anybody or the police about this incident and when they came outside Gurdwara four young men came on two motors cycles including one bullet and handed over both two-wheelers to Amritpal Singh and his associates who ran away and four men fled away with Brezza car.

 

The Station House Officer Gurindar Jit Singh Nagra said a case under sections 386(extortion by putting any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt),506(criminal intimidation ) 148, and 149(rioting ) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms  Act has been registered against the accused  and assistant sub-inspector Balbir Chand is conducting further investigations
