The Nurmahal Nagar council (NC) has failed to shift the old bus stand stoppage near the Nakodari octroy post.
The NC in its meeting held on January 16 has passed a resolution unanimously to shift the old bus stand stoppage to solve problems of traffic jams and to divert heavy vehicles from Talwan Chowk to the bye-pass.
Councilors Jang Bahdar, Rajiv Missar, Anil Mehan, Balbir Chand Deepak Kumar, and Mamta Jassal have brought a requisition in the meeting saying there is a serious problem with traffic from Mandi Chonk to Old bus stand and traffic remains jammed for a long time and ordinary people suffer.
They said that heavy trucks trollers and other vehicles pass through this road causing traffic problems adding that if these vehicles are diverted to bye- pass traffic problems could be solved.
Members have suggested an old bus stand stoppage should be shifted to near Nakodar Octroy post which will solve problems of traffic jams caused by buses.
They said that these traffic jams create problems for tourists who come to visit Historic Nurmahal Sarai.
This resolution was passed yet not implemented.
When contacted NC executive officer Karamplal Singh said that for shifting bus stoppage a temporary shed for passengers and other facilities is required for which funds are needed, and this issue will be discussed in the next meeting of the house.
