The Lohian Khas police have claimed to bust a gang of snatchers with the arrest of its four members and recovered a motorcycle, a scooter, two sharp-edged weapons, an air pistol a toy revolver, and five phones from their possession.
The station house officer (SHO) Surit Singh Padda said the police has received information that the accused had formed a gang roaming in areas of Lohian with the intention to snatch and were intercepted at a Naka.
SHO said the accused have been identified as v Manni son of Hussan Lal a resident of Hussain Pur village under Lambrra police station, Manpreet Singh alias Mannu son of Sukhwindar Singh a resident of Kachi Saran Malsian village, Samayil son of Amarjit Singh a resident of Seche Wal village and Akashdeep Singh alias Sahil son of Amarjit Singh a resident of Dare Wal village.
SHO said that the accused are habitual snatchers and have been indulging in snatching cash and motorcycles from residents traveling on link roads.
A case under sections 379-B(snatching ) and 411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) and 482(using false property mark ) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused and their unidentified accomplices and further investigation are on. Many cases are pending against the accused in different police stations.
The Bilga police also arrested snatchers Karan son of Gagan Deep a resident of Rurrka Kalan village under Goraya police station and his bother Arjan for snatching cash from Nirmal Singh a resident of Partab Pura village said investigating officer Dalvara Singh
