The Lohian Khas police have booked a Kapurthala village resident on the charge of rape.
The Investigating officer (IO) Iqbal Singh said that the accused has been identified as Manjindar Singh alias Manna son of Sukhjindar Lal alias Sukha a resident of Pajian village under Sultan Pur Lodhi police station, Kapurthala.
The victim complained to the Jalandhar (rural) Superintendent of Police that the accused promised to marry her and establish physical relations with her and solemnized the engagement ceremony but did not fulfill the promise to marry.
The IO said that a case under section 376(rape) of the Indian Penal; Code has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and further investigation are on.
