The Nakodar Sadar police have booked three members of the in-laws’ family for dowry harassment, cruelty, and committing the crime with common intention.
The Investigating officer (IO) Amrik Singh said that the accused have been identified as Nachhtar Pal alias Sonu, a Nawan Pind Aaryan village resident in Nakodar, his father Malkit Singh, and his mother Kulwindar Kaur.
The victim complained to Jalandhar (rural) Senior Superintendent of Police and the police that her marriage was solemnized with Nachhtar Pal but after some time she was harassed for dowry and her in-laws tortured and beat her.
She said in her complaint that her husband often sodomized her, video graphed her while bathing, and tortured her in all ways and other members of the in-law family were in the league in torturing her.
IO said that a case under 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) 377(unnatural offenses) and 34(committing the crime with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and further investigations are on. No arrests have been made and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused.
