AAP led Punjab government will get some political mileage from it while the opposition will be in defensive mode.
AAP was badly cornered on this issue, besides the law and order situation and rise of radical elements.
Just ahead of the Adampur parliamentary by elections, an attempt to deliver justice in sacrilege cases may be shot in the arm of the AAP government.
Faridkot : Soon after the police filed a 7000 pages chargesheet in Kotkapura case, now the state government is prepared to file another chargesheet in the Behbal Kalan firing incident in which two Sikh protesters, Krishan Bhagwan Singn and Gurjeet Singh were shot dead by the police, on October 14,2015.
"Punjab government will soon present challan in the court pertaining to police firing in Behbal kalan firing case.Decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held between state government and representatives of Quami Insaaf Morcha, deliberations also held on prisoners languishing in jails," tweeted Chief minsiter Office@CMOPb.
The filing of the chargesheet in Behbal Kalan case after Kotkapura case will give the AAP led state government some relief which was under duress due to the delay in the presentation of the challans in the cases related to the series of dissertation and killing of the two peaceful protesters, about more than 7 years ago.
The AAP government was badly cornered on this issue, as the family of Krishan Bhagwan Singh, supported by the Sikh protesters, had also blocked NH 15 about weeks ago and cabinet minsiter Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal had to visit the protesters to assure then that something concrete will be done by February 28.
The opposition parties were also cornering the AAP government on the law and order situation in the state, just ahead of the Adampur parliamentary by elections.
The Ajnala incident and a rift between Punjab chief minister and governor had also left the AAP government on the defensive mode and on the back foot.
But,on the other hand, filing of the second charge sheet may bring more troubles for the SAD because in the chargesheet filed in Kotkapura case, Parkash Singh Badal, then CM Punjab,his son and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh besides then DGP Punjab Sumedh Singh Saini have been named as accused.
As both the Behbal Kalan firing and Kotkapura cases are interlinked, the chargesheet may bring more trouble to the accused in the Kotkapura case.
