The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a criminal on the charge of assaulting a police officer.
The Investigating Officer (IO) Jasvir Singh said that the accused has been identified as Gurprret Singh alias Gopra son of Dharam Pal resident of Chuharr village.
Assistant sub inspector Rajindar Singh posted at Uggi police post complained that he along with a police party went to Chuharr village on January 7 to check the accused who is nominated in case of an attempt to murder.
The complaint said that when they reached bear the house of the accused who came outside and started fighting with the police party and tried to snatch his mobile phone which fell on the ground and the screen of the phone handset was damaged badly and the accused fled away and was nabbed later.
IO said a case under sections 353(assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186(obstructing public servant in discharge of public duty) 427(mischief) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused.
