 Shahkot travel agent couple booked for duping a local woman     of Rs 35 Lakhs

 

SHAHKOT

 The Shahkot police have booked a travel agent couple on the charge of allegedly duping a Shahkot woman of Rs.35 lakhs on the pretext of sending her son abroad.

Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police and investigating officer (IO) Gurpreet   Singh said that the accused have been identified as Surjit Singh son of Jogindar Singh a resident of Kartar Nagar, Shahkot, and his wife Parveen Kaur.

Jaswindar Kaur wife of Malkit Singh a resident of Mohalla Bagh Wala, Shahkot complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that she paid Rs 35 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her son’s migration abroad, but the accused did not send him nor returned the money.

 

IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 34(committing the crime with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Travel Profession Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
