NAKODAR
The Nakodar Sadar police have claimed to bust a gang of criminals indulging in extortion and arrested its three members.
The Station House Officer(SHO) Palwindar Singh said that the accused have been identified as Babby son of Sohan Lal a resident of Bath village under Nurmahal police station and presently living at Sonu Doctor Pandori Gate Udham Singh Nagar ,Nakodar ,Balwindar Kumar alias Viki alias Nohari son of Hans Raj alias Karam Chand a resident of Mohalla Ravi Dass Pura Nakodar and Amanprit Singh alias Aman the son of Buta Singh alias Kewal Singh a resident of Khurshaid Pur village under Nakodar city police station.
SHO said that the assistant sub-inspector Chaman Lal received a piece of information from a social activist that the accused are indulging in making threatening phone calls to Nakodar residents and businessmen demanding Lakhs of Rupees as ransom.
SHO said that the accused were arrested at a Naka at Uggi village manned by Uggi police post and a case under sections 386 (extorsion by putting a person in fear of death ) and 34(committing crime with common intention ) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and further investigations are on.
