Villager arrested for cheating after more than two years

The Bilga police have arrested a villager on the charge of cheating after more than two years of registration of a case.

The investigating officer (IO) Buta Ram said that the accused has been identified as Jaswindar Singh son of Darshan Singh a resident of Gumatali village.

Gurdev Singh a resident of Hardo Pharala village under sadar police station Jalandhar had complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that he had signed an agreement with the accused for purchasing his 6 kanals land for Rs 15.5 Lakhs and gave him Rs 9.5 lakhs as advance money. He had said that the accused did not register sale deed and nor returned the money.

IO said that a case under section 420(cheating) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused after an inquiry on June 13, 2020.
