The Lohian Khas police have booked a local resident on the charge of rape.
Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gurpreet Singh who is investigating officer in this case said that the accused has been identified as Akash Preet Singh son of Bikaram Jit a resident of Guru Nanak Colony ,Lohian Khas.
The victim’s mother had complained to the Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that the accused raped her daughter for four years on the pretext of marriage and kept her in his room at Jalandhar on the promise of sending her abroad and paying fees of ILETS course but told her daughter a few days ago that he cannot marry her as he has been engaged.
DSP said a case under sections 376(rape) of the IPC and sections 3(2) (V) of the SC/ST Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
