Punjab government object to the repatriation of SSP Chandigarh prematurely, shoots off a letter to Governor
Faridkot: Punjab government has shot off a letter to Banvari Lal Purohit, governor Punjab, who is also administrator of UT Chandigarh protesting over the repatriation of Punjab cadre IPS officer Kuldeep Singh Chahal, SSP Chandigarh.
Chahal has been prematurely repatriated to Punjab, allegedly nine months before his term completes and the post of the SSP Chandigarh has been given to Haryana police instead of Punjab police officers.
The Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann has objected to the governor saying that the post of the SSP Chandigarh is traditionally occupied by the Punjab cadre IPS officer while the post of the DC of UT is occupied by the Haryana cadre IAS, but premature repatriation of the SSP chandigarh would make an imbalance to run the affairs of the UT Chandigarh.
Mann  has further written to the governor that if Chahal was to be repatriated, The state government should be asked to send the names of the eligible officers to replace him well in advance.

The CM said that the state government is shortly sending the names of three IPS officers and the post of SSP Chandigarh must be filled from PUnjab cadre officers.
