The total purchase of paddy by the state government and private agencies from farmers crossed 5,29181 lakhs quintals in Nurmahal market committee on Thursday.
Committee secretary Manjit Singh said we are expecting a decline in the purchase of paddy this season and may not achieve the target of 7,06407 lakhs quintals purchased last year. He said this is due to a fall in yield per acre due to various reasons adding that 435415 quintals of purchased paddy have been lifted from grain markets.
