EC likely to announce Gujarat Assembly election dates today, press conference held at 12 pm

GANDHINAGAR: The Election Commission of India will announce the dates of Gujarat elections by holding a press conference on Thursday at 12 noon.

The Election Commission has already announced the dates for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections a few days back. But the dates of Gujarat elections have not been revealed yet.

Just before the announcement of the date of the Gujarat Assembly elections, today (November 3) an important meeting of the State Core Committee of BJP is being held at Kamalam office in Gandhinagar. Along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, many big leaders including State BJP President CR Patil, Purshottam Rupala and Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya are present. This meeting will go on for the next three days, in which 42 assembly seats will be churned.

The Election Commission has to conduct the assembly elections in 182 seats of Gujarat. There are speculations on social media that the Election Commission may conduct elections in two phases. Because in the year 2017, the Gujarat assembly elections were conducted in two phases.

In 2022 assembly election, there is a triangular contest between the BJP, which has been in power for the last 27 years, the main opposition Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party.

In the last assembly elections, BJP got 99 seats and Congress got 80 seats. And the majority figure in the Gujarat Assembly is 92 seats.
