SHIMLA: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has released the first list of 62 candidates for the Himachal Pradesh elections. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has been made a candidate from Siraj seat.
There are total 68 assembly seats in Himachal. For the remaining six seats, the BJP will announce the candidates later.
In the first list, BJP has made 5 women its candidates.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will file his nomination today. He will face Chetram Thakur of Congress.
Pawan Kajal from Kangra, Trilok Kapoor from Palampur, Mulkhraj Premi from Baijnath, Anil Sharma from Mandi, Rakesh Pathania from Fatehpur have been nominated.
Earlier, Congress had also released a list of 46 candidates late on Tuesday evening.
Elections in Himachal Pradesh are to be held in one phase on November 12. Counting of votes in the state will take place on December 8.
