HIGHLIGHT

  • The thickly planted link road is getting spase look of explanation due to the damage by the people.
  • Department is in slumber.

FaridkotThe tall claims of the government to plant more and more trees fall flat when it comes to the loss of the number of beautifully growing plants alongside the village Panjgrain Kalan to Devi wala road.

A thick plantation was made on either side of the road on about 5 kms stretch about 3 years ago, but with the passage of the time, the thickly planted trees look speasely as many plantas have been allegedly cut down.

In an official apathy, many trees can be seen felled on the road in a single row, along the said road.

The beautifully growing kikar trees have been cut down with the Kuharas and the felled trees are lying alongside the road.

This is not the only place where the trees have been cut down, but at many other places the trasplation has been removed most probably by the farmers whose fields run along the road.

The damage to the plantation has been more glaring on the right side along with the discharge wastewater Nullan is flowing alongside the road.

Might be, the trees could be a problem to the cleaning the Nullah, but the hanging branches could be prooned instead of cutting down the plantation.

Furthermore, the official apathy is evident because when a common man can see the damage to the plantation along the busy link road, why the officials of the forest department could not notice the loss of the plantation.

When contacted, Chmakaur Singh, district range officer Faridkot, said that he will look into the matter.

“I shall look into the matter,” he said when contacted by the Punjab Tribune.
