Chandigarh: Punjab government will announce the sugarcane rate on October 3. The state government has informed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will announce the new rate of sugarcane on October 3.
Cane payment will also be made within 14 days. Meanwhile, all sugar mills will run from November 1 to November 15.
Farmers are not paid sugarcane on time, due to which sugarcane farmers protested by blocking the road. Sugarcane is cultivated in Majha area.
Punjab Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that while reiterating the commitment of the Punjab Government to give the first priority to the farmers of the State, the Minister said that the Government is working to develop a comprehensive process where sugarcane growers will be given 14 days’ notice.
Payment will be made within. Similarly, concerted efforts are being made to make all sugar mills operational before November 15 so that farmers do not face any kind of problem regarding their crop and it becomes active within the stipulated time frame. Efforts are also being made to start Phagwara sugar mill.
