After Centre’s ban, PFI’s mega digital crackdown, official Twitter bans

NEW DELHI: After the centre banned the Popular Front of India (PFI), official twitter account has also been banned.

 

A day earlier on Wednesday, the Union Home Ministry banned PFI for five years.

PFI's Twitter profile reads, "This account has been banned as per legal requirement."

Under sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the central government has banned PFI, its affiliated organizations and institutions for five years.

What are the charges against PFI?

In the notification issued by the central government, it has been said that PFI has links with 'terrorist organisations'.

Along with PFI, its affiliate organizations and institutions have also been banned for five years. These include- Rehab India Foundation (RIF), Campus Front of India (CFI), All India Imam Council (AIIC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organization (NCHRO), National Women's Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation and Rehab Foundation, Kerala name is included.

 

Recently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had raided the Popular Front of India (PFI) locations in different states for several days. A large number of people were also arrested, including the organization's general secretary Anees Ahmed.
