The Nurmahal police have arrested two travel agents for duping a woman of Rs.20.50 lakhs on the pretext of sending her abroad.
Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar who is investigating the case said that the accused have been identified as Gurnam Singh alias Gama son of Niranjan Singh and Sodhi Singh son of Makhan Lal residents of Jaggo Sangha village under Nurmahal police station.
Rajwindar Kaur wife of Harmik Singh a resident of the same village had complained to Jalandhar(rural)senior superintendent of police that she had paid Rs 20.50 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her migration abroad, but the accused did not send her abroad and nor returned the money.
DSP said that a case under section406 (breach of trust). 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act was registered against the accused.
