The Lohian Khas police have booked five members of in-law’s family for dowry harassment
Investigating officer (IO) Omesh Kumar said that the accused have been identified as Amandeep Singh a resident of Bank Colony, Basti Bawa Khel, Jalandhar, his father Satam Singh, mother Balwindar Kaur and brother Mandeep Singh and sister-in-law Gori.
Sandeep Kaur a resident of Mundi Kasu village complained to the Senior Superintendent of Police Jalandhar (rural) that her marriage was solemnised with Amandeep Singh in February,2024 and her in-law’s started harassing her for bringing more dowry threatened and forced her to leave house.
IO said that a case under section 406 (breach of trust) and 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) 506(criminal intimidation )354-A (sexual harassment) of the IPC has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and further investigations are on. Raids are being conducted to nab absconding accused.
