The Nurmahal police have arrested a travel agent for duping a woman of Rs.4 lakhs on the pretext of sending her son abroad.
The investigating officer (IO) Jai Gopal said that the accused has been identified as Jasvir Singh Shira son of Sukhdev Singh a resident of Cheema Khurd village under Nurmahal police station.
Ushai Ranni wife of Jarnail Singh a resident of the same village had complained to the Jalandhar(rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) that she had paid Rs 4 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her son’s migration abroad, but he was not sent abroad nor returned the money.
IO said that a case under section, 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the accused.
