The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a gangster on charges of extortion and criminal intimidation,
Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukh Pal Singh said that the accused has been identified as Sukhdeep Singh alias Sukh , son of Sucha Singh, resident of Bhandal Dona village under Sadar Kapurthala police station.
DSP said a case under sections 308(5)(extortion by putting any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt) and 351(3)criminal intimidation) of BNS was registered against the accused on October 20,2025 and his accomplice identified as Manveer Singh Padda son of Karamjit Singh a resident of Bhikhari Wal village in Gurdas Pur district and presently living in Canada.
DSP said the accused had demanded Rs 1 crore ransom from a resident of Nakodar area and threatened to kill him and his family in case of failure to pay the money.
