The Shahkot police have arrested a gangster on charges of extortion, criminal intimidation, and rioting.
Station House Officer (SHO) Balwindar Singh said that the accused has been identified as Papalpreet Singh, son of Pargat Singh, resident of Marari Kalan village under Majitha police station, Amritsar.
SHO said a case under sections 386(extortion by putting any person in fear of death or of grievous hurt),506(criminal intimidation ), 148, and 149(rioting ) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused and others in March 2024, and others on a statement from Ranjit Singh a resident of Nangal Ambian Khurd village.
