The Nurmahal police have booked four persons on charges of outraging religious feelings by insultingreligious beliefs.
Station House Officer (SHO) Paramjit Singh said that the accused have been identified as Narindar Jit Singh, a resident of Kapurthala city, Rup Singh, a resident of Bhainni Rorra village in Ludhiana, Manjit Singh, a resident of Mira Pur village in Jalandhar, and Hardeep Singh, a resident of Kot Mangal Singh village in LudhianaParminder Singh, a resident of Uppal Jagir village, complained to the police that the accused violated religious practices while transporting the Guru Granth Sahibs from the village Gurdwara to a Ludhiana Gurdwara, and outraged the religious feelings of his community.SHO said a case under section 299(deliberate and malicious acts intending to outrage the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 3(5) (committing a crime with common intention) of the BNS has been registered against the accused.
