Taking a decisive step under the Punjab government's anti-drug initiative 'Yudh Nashian Virudh', theJalandhar Municipal Corporation, in coordination with the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar, on Sunday demolished an illegal encroachment belonging to a notorious drug trafficker in Phaggu Mohalla.

Chowk,Garha, Jalandhar, has been demolished. Rahul Kumar alias Chuhl, and his brother Saurav are both well-knowndrug smugglers. Rahul Kumar has 5 FIRs registered against him under the NDPS Act and the Excise Act, while his brother Saurav has 2 FIRs under the NDPS Act and 1 FIR of theft registered against him.
"This action is a strong message to the drug mafia. By destroying their illegal properties, we are not only enforcing the law but also freeing our neighbourhood from the grip of drugs," said CP Dhanpreet Kaur.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Commissionerate Police to completely uproot the drug network and appealed to the citizens to share information related to drugs through the government’s WhatsApp number 9779-100-200, assuring complete confidentiality of the informants. Residents welcomed this initiative of the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police. They lauded the government’s bold steps, saying, “This will send a strong signal to the drug peddlers and inspire public confidence.” People termed such actions as an important step in the state’s ongoing war against drugs to make Punjab drug-free.
