The Mehat Pur police have arrested a Nakodar dead writer on charges of cheating and using caste remarks.Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Onkar Singh Brar said the accused has been identified as Rannjit Singh Ranna, son of Darshan Singh, a resident of Kular village.
Ashwani Kumar, a resident of Khuram Pur village in Mehat Pur, had complained to the police that the accused and his two accomplices cheated him of RS 5 Lakhs on the pretext of installing a solar system, and when he demanded back his money, the accused and his accomplice abused him and used caste remarks against him.DSP said a case under section 316(2)( criminal breach of trust), 318(4) (cheating) of the BNS and sections 3(1) (RS) of the ST/SC Act was registered against the accused and his accomplice, and his wife was arrested earlier.
