The Shahkot police are reeling under the acute staff shortage. There are only 54 police personnel against a sanctioned strength of 106 personnel.
It has two sanctioned posts of sub-inspectors, out of which one is lying vacant. Of the 80 posts of constables, 44 are lying vacant. Of 14 posts of head constables, 13 are vacant. It has two police posts at Malsian village and Talwndi Sanghera village, which are manned by 6 and 5 police personnel. Sources said Home Guards volunteersreduced,oing the job of constables and patrolling had been reduced, and investigations were suffering.
Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police Onkar Singh Brar said that the strength is adequate as per the sanctioned police force available at the district level.
