Bilga police suffer  acute staff shortage,  only 29 personnel manning the police station.

 

NURMAHAL

The Bilga police are reeling under an acute staff shortage. There are only 29 police personnel against sanctioned strength of 106 personnel.

It has two posts of Sub Inspectors, of which one is vacant. It has nine sanctioned posts of assistant sub-inspectors (ASI), out of which five are vacant. All 14 posts of head constables are vacant. Of the 80 posts of constables, 63 are lying vacant.   Sources said Home Guards volunteers were doing the job of constables, and patrolling had been reduced, and investigations were suffering.

 

Station House Officer Palwindar Singh Ghuman said that the strength is adequate as per norms set by the Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police for each police station.
