The Nakodar city police are reeling under an acute staff shortage. There are only 37 police personnel against
a sanctioned strength of 110 personnel.
Four posts of assistant sub-inspector (ASI)are lying vacant out of the sanctioned 9 posts.
Of the 14 posts of head constables, 13 are lying vacant.
Of the 85 posts of constables, 60 are lying vacant.
Sources said Home Guards volunteers were doing the job of constables, and patrolling had been reduced, and investigations were suffering. As a result, thefts are increasing daily.

by Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police for each police station.
