JaALANDHAR
In a decisive move to safeguard public life and property, the Jalandhar Administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, has issued a prohibition on leaving cattle unattended in open areas and along roadsides. In an official order, the Deputy Commissioner observed that several residents let their cattle roam freely on roads and fields, posing serious risks to human lives, leading to road accidents, and causing significant damage to standing crops. At times, these animals become uncontrollable, escalating the danger to pedestrians and motorists alike.
To curb this public nuisance, the administration has instructed the Rural Development and Panchayat Department and the Police Department to strictly implement these prohibition orders in their respective jurisdictions.
Dr. Aggarwal had earlier directed all officials to ensure the shifting of stray and abandoned cattle to
Gaushalas by August 31 as part of the district’s broader animal management plan.In a step toward better animal care, the administration has also issued a helpline number 9646-222-555, where citizens can report injured or abandoned cattle. The helpline aims to facilitate prompt medical
attention and ensure the animals are relocated to shelters safely.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to addressing this issue holistically, ensuring road safety, preventing agricultural losses, and promoting responsible animal care.
