The Shahkot police have booked two travel agents for allegedly duping a man of Rs 43 lakhs on the pretext
of sending his wife and son abroad.
Investigating Officer (IO) Buta Ram said that the accused have been identified as Dalar Singh, a resident of
Fateh Jalal village in Jalandhar, and Paramjit Singh, a resident of Bhago Arayin village in Kapurthala.
Harjit Singh, a resident of Gurdas Pur and presently residing at Malsian village, had complained toJalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police that he had paid Rs 43 lakhs to the accused for facilitating the migration of his wife and son to Canada. However, neither did they send them abroad nor did they return the money.
IO said a case under sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) and 318(4) (cheating and dishonesty inducing delivery of property) of the BNS has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
