Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today honoured two sisters, Tanvi Sharma and Radhika Sharma, who have brought laurels to Punjab by excelling in badminton at national and international levels.

The players were felicitated with a cash award of Rs. One lakh and trophies by the District BadmintAssociation.

Punjab and District Badminton Association Secretary Ritin Khanna was also present on the occasion.

Dr. Aggarwal, who also heads the District Badminton Association, informed that Tanvi Sharma is currently

the world number one in the Under-19 Junior Badminton category, making her the first player from Punjab to achieve this milestone. Similarly, Radhika Sharma is ranked number one in the country in mixed doubles.

Praising the talent and hard work of both sisters, Dr. Aggarwal said they have made both the state and the country proud. He described them as a source of inspiration for other aspiring athletes.

Wishing the young talents success in their future endeavours, the Deputy Commissioner assured that the district administration would extend every possible support to them. He emphasized that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is continuously striving to promote sports and encourage youth participation.

Dr. Aggarwal also acknowledged the special contribution of their mother and coach, Meena Sharma. He stated that parental guidance plays a crucial role in shaping children’s lives and thanked her for not only raising the children well but also giving a clear direction to their lives, which enabled them to reach this level of success.
